My name is Michael Bertelson and I am a Lead Systems Engineer, Design and Engineering, for a large, multi-national business, specializing in Linux, but with experience in network administration, enterprise storage administration and networking, information security, enterprise application and databases (primarily Oracle), and various operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux, OpenVMS, etc). I have a degree in network engineering, and have been in IT since the 1990’s. My focus is currently in cross-disciplinary deep-dive performance analysis and performance/operational tuning.
Back in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, I operated a electronic Bulletin Board System (BBS) running SLBBS (SearchLight) that had a pretty strong following. Still miss the early days of personal computers.. My hobbies still include technology, as I find particular interest in embedded systems and Linux, having cross-compiled and built my own Linux-based operating systems. As a result of both my profession and personal interests, I have a deep understanding of the internals of the Linux kernel and how everything interacts.
